She was the child of Kristi and Chris Daymon. Kate graduated from Holt High School and was attending Lansing Community College for Digital Media Arts.
Kate served the State of Michigan in the Michigan Public Service Commission for nine years, and was recognized with an employee appreciation award for dedicated work transitioning commission meetings and rate case hearings to virtual formats during the Covid 19 pandemic—an achievement reflecting steady commitment, clear thinking, and a gift for problem-solving when it mattered most.
She was a member of Edgewood United Church of Christ, Bare Bones improv company, and GAAY sports leagues, and lived in Lansing, Michigan. Kate found joy in community and connection, whether through sand volleyball, indoor volleyball, dodgeball, kickball, bowling, and billiards, or in quieter moments spent playing board games, cooking for those Kate loved, playing computer games with friends, and taking walks in nature. Kate’s humor and playful spirit were unmistakable, even when competition sharpened the moment; and in all things, Kate brought wholehearted effort, strategic insight, and a deep devotion to the people Kate loved.
Animals were drawn to Kate, and so were people—grateful for Kate’s honesty, understanding, thoughtfulness, and sweetness. Family meant everything to Kate, and many Sundays were spent together laughing and playing games, building memories that will be held close.
