Kathleen G. Padden passed away peacefully on December 1, 2017 in Lansing. She was 66. Kathleen was born to Michael and Margaret (Reardon) Griffin on Sept. 12, 1951 in Detroit. She worked in the advertising business many years, chiefly at J. Walter Thompson. In more recent years, she managed the real estate business she started with her husband. She was fiercely political, having managed a Michigan gubernatorial campaign and supported many other public causes.
Kathleen enjoyed spending time visiting her adult children and traveling around the country, sailing on cruise ships in the Caribbean, and reading books. She was an unwavering fan of the Detroit Tigers through thick and thin, and enjoyed the fact that spring training meant a well-deserved break from the unpredictable weather of the Michigan winter. She was a loving, thoughtful, and generous grandmother who mastered the art of giving gifts to her children and grandchildren. She was adoring, and she was adored.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and is survived by her husband of 38 years, Jeffrey; son, Scott Griffin Padden; daughter, Katherine (Rudy) Griffin Pulido; two grandchildren, Michael Corey Pulido and Victoria Jean Pulido; sister, Mary (Mark) Spitery; brother, Robert Michael (Kathy) Griffin, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial gathering will be held at The Peanut Barrel at 521 East Grand River Avenue, East Lansing, MI 48823 on Tuesday, December 5th from 2-5pm.
In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made to St. Patrick’s Senior Center, 58 Parsons Street, Detroit, MI 48201 (www.stpatsrctr.org) or Emily’s List (www.emilyslist.org).
