Kenneth and Delores Marie Carpenter married on September 21, 1951. Kenneth met Delores when they were about five years old as they both lived on the same street. Ken graduated from Eastern High School and soon was drafted into U.S. Army and served during the Korean war. Upon discharge from the service Ken went to work for the Board of Water and Light where he worked for 42 years as a meter reader and meter reader leader. Ken retired from the BWL in 1992, and he and Delores sold their house in south Lansing and moved to Riverview, Florida where they stayed until Delores’ passing in 2024. Ken decided that he wanted to return home to Michigan and moved back and bought a house in Mason, Michigan in 2025 which was his final place of residence.
Ken didn’t have a lot of hobbies as most of his time was spent keeping the cars running, roofing and insulating houses and any other help he could provide for his four children. He also kept busy with a part-time job to help pay the bills. When he did have a moment, he liked to craft stained glass. A skill he passed on to his son Chris. He was also an avid gardener and kept our house in south Lansing looking the best in the neighborhood.
Ken was always there if you needed help and had a work ethic that all of us are proud of.
Ken is survived by his son Greg (Lynn) Adsit, daughter Julie (Bill) Blackmer and daughter Trinette Adsit, his grandchildren Olivia, Kate (Mark) O’Neal and Abbey (Tyler) Reynolds, ten great grandchildren; his sister Joy, and several nephews and nieces. Ken was preceded in death by his wife of 73 years, son Chris, parents Clarence and Mildred, and brothers Richard, Alan and Donald.
Kenneth was well loved and will be missed by all who knew him.
