Lois Marie Brown of Haslett passed away on April 5, 2012 at Hospice House of Lansing. During Lois's time in hospice many family members and friends were able to visit, call and send cards to let her know how loved she was. Many caring hearts have reached out to Lois and Darrell over these last years to their great appreciation.
Lois was born in Brighton, Michigan on October 5, 1928 to Albert and Mary Musolf. Lois grew up on a large farm in New Hudson that had an apple orchard and registered Holstein cows and bulls.
Lois attended the one-room Bullard School through 7th grade and graduated from Stockbridge High School in 1946. After high school, Lois was an operator for Michigan Bell. She loved big band music and enjoyed going to dance halls to see the big bands live. It was at one of these dances that she met her husband, Darrell. Lois and Darrell celebrated 63 incredible years together. They made their home in Haslett where they raised four children.Lois devoted her life to family and loved spending time with them. She was a loving and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Lois was a wonderful homemaker and took care of her home as an expression of love for her family. She was an excellent baker and cook. Her fabulous meals and homemade baked goods were the center of many family gatherings throughout the years. Lois's recipes are comforting keepsakes for her family. Throughout their marriage Lois and Darrell made many wonderful memories. They enjoyed dancing, traveling, playing cards and the company of precious friends.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers Howard Musolf, Adelbert Musolf and Arnold Musolf. Lois is survived by her dear husband, Darrell Brown; children Jack (Marilyn) Brown, Colleen Brown Williams, Mike (Louise) Brown, Nancy (Tom) Herlocker; grandchildren Jeremy (Shannon) Brown, Scott Brown, Beckie (Brian) Conlen, Steve (Katie) Brown, Trevor Williams, Cara Williams, Leah Herlocker, Bryant Herlocker, Bill Edwards, Maureen Edwards, and six great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Friday, May 18, from 2-4pm and 6-8pm at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 1730 E. Grand River Ave, East Lansing. A Funeral Service will be held at Haslett Community Church, 1427 Haslett Rd, Haslett, on Saturday, May 19, at 11:00 am. Interment will be at Summit Cemetery in Williamston immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make contributions in memory of Lois to Haslett Community Church.
