Lorraine graduated from Wayne State University in 1963. She worked as a dietician at Harper Hospital in Detroit before moving to Flint to raise her family.
She was actively involved in St Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church where she was a member of the Altar Society and worked in the office.
Lorraine and Ron met at Wayne State University at Freshmen orientation. They were married on January 9th, 1965. They moved to Flint when Ron opened Franklin Pharmacy and started their family there. Once they moved to Westgate subdivision, they found themselves surrounded by wonderful neighbors and Lorraine soon became a mother to everyone. She was very active at her children’s schools and did not miss a single swim meet, game, or practice. Her voice could always be heard over the rest of the crowd at swim meets. She adored her grandchildren and was very active in their lives. Lorraine is known for her warm hugs when meeting people whether she knew them or not. Although she wasn’t Italian, she mastered Italian cooking and loved cooking for her family, especially her grandchildren. She will always be known for her shortbread that she would give to everyone for any occasion. She truly touched everyone she met. She was a loving wife and the best mom and grandma anyone could ever ask for. She will be missed.
She is preceded in death by her parents Michael and Helen Miles and son Timothy.
She is survived by husband, Ronald, daughter Christine Gawryk (John), son Michael Melaragni (Ruth), daughter in law Dana and grandchildren, Nicholas, Anna, Andrew, Michael, and Dominic. She is also survived by sisters Suzanne Keller and Michelle Malik.
The family would like to thank the staff at University of Michigan Sparrow Hospital for the care and compassion they showed our loved one in their final days. Especially the staff in the ICU.
Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Home on March 14, 2026. Visitation with the family will be from 1-3pm followed by the funeral service from 3-3:45pm.
