

Louis Edward Legg Jr. was born on January 21, 1928 in Coldwater, the son of Louis and Dorothy (Wood) Legg Sr., and passed away August 4, 2015 at the age of 87. Louis was a prominent Lansing business man and community leader. He graduated from Michigan State University with a bachelor degree in business and belonged to Beta Theta Pi fraternity. He was part of the debate team that won a national championship for MSU and wrote for the MSU State News. Louis proudly served his country as a captain in the U.S. Army reserve, and was an Excalibur member. He was very active in the Republican Party and was a delegate at the 1964 National Republican Convention. During his lifetime, Louis served as president of the Lansing Rotary Club, the Lansing YMCA, the Lansing Area Chamber of Commerce and as Chairman of the Michigan Chamber of Commerce. He was a board member of Sparrow Hospital, the Bank of Lansing, and the Thoman Foundation. Louis was recognized as Man of the Year in Lansing. He was preceded in death by his parents. Surviving to cherish his memory are his wife, Joan; children, Louis Legg III and Thomas Legg; grandchildren, Matt and Jon Legg. A funeral service will be held on Sunday, August 9, 2015 at 2:30 pm, MSU Alumni Chapel, Auditorium Drive, Michigan State University, East Lansing, MI 48824. The family will receive friends from 4:00-8:00 PM on Saturday, August 8th at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 1730 East Grand River, East Lansing, MI.
