

Lucy F. Lee died peacefully at home in East Lansing, Michigan on October 13, 2017 with her beloved son and extended family by her bedside. Lucy was diagnosed with cancer in mid-2017 and lived fully through the end with dignity and grace. Lucy was born in China in 1931, moved to the U.S. in 1949, and obtained her Ph.D. in biochemistry from Michigan State University in 1967. Lucy joined the USDA-ARS-Regional Poultry Research Laboratory (now Avian Disease and Oncology Laboratory (ADOL)) in 1968. Over the ensuing 43 years at ADOL, she built a distinguished career conducting research on avian tumor viruses. Lucy was preceded in death by her husband Joseph Lee and will be lovingly remembered by her son Christopher, his life partner Allison and their daughter Josephine.
A memorial service will be held on October 25, 2017, 3pm at the MSU Alumni Chapel with a reception to follow.
