

Madge Rita Jacolik, age 94, died Tuesday, December 6, 2016 at Burcham Hills Retirement Center in East Lansing, Michigan. Born in Brighton England, she was one of eleven children and emigrated to Ontario after World War II. She is predeceased by previous husbands Jack Mackenzie of Sarnia, Ontario, and Ted Jacolik of Port Huron; her son, Gregory Niven Mackenzie of Texas; and grandson, Adrian Savolainen of Toronto, Ontario. She will be missed by her daughters, Valerie (Pentti) Savolainen of Toronto, Susan Mackenzie (David Betts) of East Lansing, Coral (Rob) Danforth of Indianapolis; and seven loving grandchildren, Nick Savolainen, Chris Dobyns Jr., Libby, Madeline, Katie and Andrew Danforth and Carson Mackenzie. She will be remembered as a caring friend, mother and grandmother who loved to laugh and had a smile for everyone. Her passions included reading, cooking, fishing, cats, birds and word games. Her life was enriched in the past year by many special new friends and the caring staff at Burcham. She felt truly blessed and died in peace. A memorial visitation will be held Friday, December 30th from 2pm to 4pm at Burcham Hills Assisted Living, 2700 Burcham Drive, East Lansing, MI 48823.
