
Madhvi was a graduate of the B. J. Medical College in Pune India. After medical school, she completed a residency in psychiatry at Michigan State University and fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry at the University of Michigan. She joined the faculty in the Department of Psychiatry at Michigan State University and was the founding director of the child and adolescent psychiatry fellowship and director of the section of child and adolescent psychiatry.
Madhvi was married to her husband Ronald Richards Jr. who passed away on November 28, 2015. They were married for 14 years and had 2 wonderful children, Naveen and Neera. Ron and Madhvi met while she was a resident and he was a law student. Madhvi was a wonderful, caring and passionate mother who loved her children with a passion, and loved to watch them play soccer. Ron and Madhvi shared a love of all things MSU.
Madhvi is survived by her children Naveen and Neera, her mother (Nalini Phadtare), her father (Hambir Phadtare) and her sister Gomti (Mehul) Shah, mother-in-law (Nancy Richards), father-in-law (Ronald Richards) brother-in-law (Jeffery Richards) as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and great grandmothers.
A Memorial Service will be held from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm on Sunday, November 12 at the University Club of Michigan State University, 3435 Forest Rd., Lansing, MI 48910. Condolences and memories may be shared with the family at www.greastlansing.com.
