

EAST LANSING
Mae Foley, age 96, formerly of Holt and Williamston, passed away Jan. 31, 2018. She was born in Steubenville, Ohio on October 19, 1921 to Louis and Florence (Noel) Barko. Mae loved reading, gardening, stenciling furniture and quilting. She loved and enjoyed her family very much. Mae taught elementary and pre-school and she worked for the State of Michigan in the Department of Labor, working on migrant issues.
Preceded in death by her parents; husbands, John “Jerry” Foley and George “Bud” Hinman; two brothers, William (Virginia) Barko and David Barko and sister, Helen Louise Barko. Mae is survived by her daughters, Anne (John) Colone, Liz Foley, Chris (Allen) Louks and Katie (David) Colburn; sons, Michael (Karen) Foley, David Foley and Dan (Diane) Foley; grandchildren, Laura (Jeff) Clark, Michele (Steve) Hendrick, David (Cara) Ciancio, Michael Louks, Mary (Jacob) Louks, Pam (Nicole) Jaros-Helmstetter, Nic Foley, Sean (Stephanie) Foley, Steve (Jessie) Foley, Rustin Foley, Rachel (Adrian) Banks, Jessie (Kyle) Colburn and Jacob Colburn. Also survived by her brother, Edwin Barko; sisters-in-law, Patricia Barko and Mary Kraatz; 16 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, East Chapel, 1730 E. Grand River, East Lansing, Friday 4-8 p.m. Funeral Mass at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, 955 Alton Rd., East Lansing, Saturday 11 a.m. with visitation beginning at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Mason.
