Peggy was born in Douglas, Georgia on March 14, 1946. With her parents and brother, she moved to Jacksonville, Florida at an early age. She and her husband, Dr. Randolph A. Wirth have been members of The Peoples Church in East Lansing since 1968. Also, she has been a member of the Junior League of Lansing since 1969. She attended Valdosta State College in Valdosta, Georgia and graduated from Michigan State University with a BA degree in education. Her hobby was knitting as she was also an avid reader. She and her husband have lived in East Lansing since 1968 and during that time Peggy served as a volunteer for many civic organizations; she also volunteered as an assistant kindergarten teacher at Lansing Christian Elementary School for eighteen years assisting her wonderful friend, Judy Person. Peggy’s passion for Lansing Christian School, the entire staff and her students ran very deep.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Thurston H. and Margaret E. (Tanner) Taylor. Surviving is her husband of 47 years, Dr. Randolph A. Wirth; brother, Judge Haldane (Dee) Taylor of Jacksonville, FL; sister-in-law, Amy (James) Cranmore of Jackson, MI, and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, April 9, 2015 at The Peoples Church, 200 W. Grand River Avenue, East Lansing. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, April 8, 2015 and one hour prior to the service all at The Peoples Church. For those desiring contributions may be made to The Peoples Church in celebration of Peggy’s forty plus years of service and involvement in the congregation. The family is being served by Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 1700 E. Grand River Avenue, East Lansing.
