Margo was born on May 21, 1941 in Detroit, Michigan to Daniel and Hildegarde Wells. She grew up in Grosse Pointe, Michigan and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Michigan State University in 1963. While at MSU, Margo was a member of Alpha Chi Omega sorority (Beta Epsilon). She remained active with her sorority after graduation as a member of the Beta Iota Beta alumnae chapter. She served on the House Corporation Board for many years and assisted with operations and maintenance of the sorority house. On May 11, 1968, Margo married Guenter Adam Stork. They raised two daughters, Erika Stork and Karin Stork Nelson.
Margo returned to Michigan State University when her children were grown to earn a Master of Arts degree in Rehabilitation Counseling and then worked as a rehabilitation case-manager, assisting disabled persons with the attainment of their potential.
Margo spent her life caring for others. When her daughter, Erika, was born with Down Syndrome, she became actively involved with the Greater Lansing ARC in order to advocate for the rights of people with disabilities. Margo loved weaving and was a member of the Greater Lansing Weavers Guild, serving for a time as president of the group. She also loved gardening, sewing, walking, and spending time with her three grandchildren who will always cherish the time they spent with their beloved Oma. Margo was a cherished friend and neighbor and active member of the Wardcliff Neighborhood Association. She regularly attended St. Johns Catholic Church.
Margo was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her husband, Guenter Adam Stork, and two daughters: Erika Stork and Karin Stork Nelson (Eric); grandchildren, Bridget, Luke, and Jack Nelson; brothers, Peter Wells of Charlestown, MA and Robert Wells (Michele) of Boulder, CO.
An outdoor memorial service will be held at Gorsline-Runciman East Chapel on Saturday, September 26, 2020 at 2:00 PM.
