Marilyn is survived by her husband Michael, daughters Cristin, Colleen, and Cynthia, brother Edward, and eight grandchildren - Anna, Connor, Catherine, Charlie, Matthew, Sophia, Audrey, and Cooper - who know her as their “Mimi.”
Marilyn had a passion for learning and was knowledgeable about many different subjects. Many of Marilyn’s most cherished moments were teaching her kids and grandkids everything from ancient history, art, music, and poetry, to the latest scientific discoveries.
Marilyn also encouraged all her children and grandchildren to learn to play the lifelong sport of tennis. She spent countless hours on and off the tennis court, traveling to tournaments, and enjoyed watching her kids and grandkids practice and compete in tennis matches.
Marilyn has been known by many friends and family as “the wisest counsel they knew”, a problem-solver, confidante, and guiding light. It was common to find visitors sitting in the kitchen nook with Marilyn, sipping coffee, waiting to hear what sage advice she would offer.
Marilyn was born in Boston, Massachusetts to Helen and Edward Doyle, and later moved with her parents, sisters Jackie and Elaine, and brother Edward to sunny Anaheim, California. She would often remark how lucky she was to grow up surrounded by orange groves, and with the beach and Disneyland so close by.
Marilyn and Mike met in New York City when she was working as a flight attendant and Mike working for IBM. They married in Linden, New Jersey in 1970 and later settled in Okemos, Michigan. They spent many summers and winters with their family at Shanty Creek and Schuss Mountain, and most recently at Lake Lansing.
