She grew up in Grand Ledge, Michigan. During WWII she worked as “Rosie the Riveter,” at the Diamond REO factory in Lansing. During her retirement years, she worked at Knapps and Jacobsons.
Marjorie took great pride in her home; inside and out. She loved spending time with family and friends boating and exploring Drummond Island.
Marjorie was preceded in death by her husband Neil M. Darbon; and sisters Edie Lawrence and Bonnie Webb. She is survived by her daughter Pamela (Bill) Porterfield; son Greg (Susie) Darbon; grandchildren Melisa Porterfield, Amanda (Eric-Sean) Gotcher, and Elizabeth Darbon; great-grandchildren Colter Sutton, Halen, Karley, EJ Gotcher; brother Keith Lawrence, and sister Jane Lawrence.
A Memorial service will be held Tuesday, June 22, 2010 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 955 Alton Rd., East Lansing with the Rev. Mark Inglot officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Michigan Great Lakes Chapter, 310 N. Main, Suite 100, Chelsea, MI 48118 in memory of Marjorie.
