Went to be with her Lord on January 7, 2012, from Stoneleigh Residence (Hospice of Lansing). She was born December 26, 1934 to Kenneth and Francis (Beebe) Mix. Marlene graduated from Eastern High School in 1952 and soon after married the love of her life, Jerry. They were married for 52 years and had 3 children. Marlene worked for years at Ingham Medical Hospital and also volunteered for the Red Cross. An avid dog lover, she shared her life with several beloved Australian Shepherds. She also loved her summers at the Lake Michigan home. Marlene was predeceased by her husband Jerry on November 10, 2004 and is survived by her children, Jeff and Tina Ray of Okemos, Teri and Alan Zamarron of Whitehall and Tom and Becky McCarthy of Bath. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Shaun (Jeanne), Lindsey (Chris), Meghan (Bradley), Katie, Emily, Kyle, Olivia, Mac, Lucas and great grandchild Madison. She was the most wonderful mother, grandmother and great grandmother, active in all their lives. The family was blessed by the care of the intensive care nurses at Sparrow Hospital and especially the love and compassion of all those who work and volunteer at Stoneleigh Residence.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 28, 2012, 1:00 p.m. at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Home, 1730 East Grand River Ave., East Lansing. The family will receive friends from 11a.m.-1p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Donations may be made in Marlene’s name to the Capitol Area Humane Society, 7095 West Grand River Avenue, Lansing, MI 48906, or Hospice of Lansing Stoneleigh Residence, 4052 Legacy Parkway, Ste. 200, Lansing, MI 48911.
