East Lansing, Michigan
Marlys (Marley) Leone Pearson, 78, passed away on Tuesday, April 30 at home with her loving family at her side.
Marley was born in South Dakota and graduated from South Dakota State University, Brookings, SD in 1956 with a degree in Home Economics.
Following years of dedicated service, Marley was honored in 2006 by the International P.E.O. Sisterhood on the 50th Anniversary of her initiation into membership of P.E.O. In 1995, she served as President of the local Lansing area Chapter BM of the P.E.O. Sisterhood. She was also active in numerous church activities at Peoples Church in East Lansing.
Perhaps Marley is most fondly remembered by those who knew her as entertaining, warm-hearted, proud of her family yet never boastful. She loved bridge, especially playing with her close friends Paula, Mona and Barb.
Finally, to paraphrase Shakespeare’s Hamlet, we say “Good Night, My Sweet Marley, and may bands of angels sing thee to thy rest.”
Marley is survived by her husband of 54 years, Doug; daughters, Diane (Len) Bartoszewicz of East Grand Rapids, Janet (Steve) Kremers of East Grand Rapids; granddaughters, Andrea Bartoszewicz of Charlotte, NC, Allie Bartoszewicz of Ann Arbor and Caroline Kremers of East Grand Rapids; grandson, Brian Kremers of Carleton, MN. Also surviving is her sister Joan (John) Taylor of Cincinnati.
The family would like to give our special thanks to Dr. Vesna Kaluza and staff for their compassionate care.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 6, at Peoples Church, 200 W. Grand River Ave, East Lansing. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 3-5 p.m. at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 1730 E. Grand River Ave., East Lansing and also one hour prior to the service at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to Michigan P.E.O. Fund, c/o Nancy Karel, 7515 Thrasher, Kalamazoo, MI 49009, in Marley’s memory. On-line condolences may be made at: www.greastlansing.com
