Born Mary Lynn Cramton to Robert Brady Cramton and Rosemary Butcher Cramton of St. Charles, Michigan, Mary was the 4th of 5 children. She attended Delta College, then graduated from Michigan State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing. She moved to East Lansing with her husband John in 1987.
Mary was a true light in this world – vivacious, selfless, loving to all, and so, so funny. She was an avid birdwatcher (along with deer, chipmunks, and bunnies), unwavering Spartan sports fan, magnificent cook, a resolute advocate for truth and justice, and an overall extraordinary person. She never missed a birthday or holiday and had a large collection of greeting cards for any occasion. Mary enjoyed spending her summers in Indian River, MI with her immediate and extended family. Mary loved fearlessly and gave without the expectation of ever receiving. Her family will continue to carry on her legacy of kindness and generosity.
Mary held several different roles during her career – Emergency Room/Purchasing Clerk at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Saginaw (where she met John, the love of her life), Marketing Specialist for Stratton-Cheeseman Management Company, Insurance Agent at Aflac, and Receptionist and Administrative Assistant for the Kellogg Center and Breslin Center at Michigan State University. However, we know in our hearts her proudest accomplishment is being a mom. From 1996 to 2005, Mary was a stay-at-home mom and always active in her daughters’ schools and activities.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Rosemary Cramton. She is survived by her loving husband of 36 years, John Taylor; her adoring daughters, Katherine and Meredith Taylor; her siblings – Kay (Roger) Lake, Ann (Greg) Larkin, Mike (Debra) Cramton, Patti (Jimmy) Walser; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A celebration of life will be held at a later time for family and friends.
