Matthew was born on September 25, 1970, in Lansing, Michigan, to Joyce (Hennings) and Jonathan E. Maire. Matthew is preceded by his mother and survived by his father Jonathan E Maire of East Lansing, MI; children Noelle and son-in-law Preston (Robbie) Cutbirth of Cedar Park, TX, Grant Maire of McKinney, TX, and Lauren Maire of Anna, TX; sister Julie (Maire) Turner of St. Louis, MO; and nieces Sarah Turner, Meagan Turner, and Erin Turner.
Matthew received his Bachelor’s in Political Science from Hope College and was well known in his childhood as a great basketball player for the Williamston Hornets.
Matthew had several hobbies and interests throughout his lifetime, some of which included playing guitar, University of Michigan football, his membership in the Austin Board of Realtors, establishing his own consulting company (MWMaire Consulting), and writing. Matthew mentioned frequently how he aspired to write a book about his life in hope that it would inspire and reach the hearts of many. Matthew also enjoyed spending time on the water and walking piers, specifically on Lake Michigan. He also enjoyed collecting hats of various football stadiums across the U.S. and had visited/acquired hats from forty-eight states at the time of his passing.
Although he was proud of the many accomplishments he achieved throughout his life, the role Matthew most prided himself in was being a beloved father to his three children who loved him dearly.
Matthew was known and loved by many. He had a knack for making friends and connections everywhere he went. Those who knew Matthew personally would describe him as kind, thoughtful, patient, understanding, selfless, resilient, and having a wonderful sense of humor. Matthew was a devout Christian and rooted himself deeply in his church. He often talked about all of the wonderful ways God had blessed him and impacted his life; there is no doubt he is enjoying the glories of heaven with his creator.
A memorial service will be held to honor and celebrate his life on October 4th, 2024 at 5:00 pm in Williamston, Michigan at 2652 E. Haslett Road Milestones Building. A link is included for all who loved Matthew to contribute memories, stories, or photographs of Matthew. A fund has also been created for those who wish to gift monetarily, and all proceeds will be given to Matthew’s three surviving children. The family would like to thank all those who have offered their condolences and have shared their beautiful memories of Matthew.
