Loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, son, mentor and friend, Michael Joseph Evans of Williamston, passed away February 3, 2013. He had ongoing health issues for the last year, but passed away unexpectedly near his winter home in Pinellas Park, Florida, with his wife, Donna at his side. Mike was born on June 14, 1944 to Albert Louis and Geraldine Ruth (Weaver) Evans at the Camp Forest Army base in Tullahoma, Tennessee. Mike was a 1963 graduate of Lansing Eastern High School and attended Lansing Community College. He married the love and light of his life Donna Jean McAllister on July 24, 1964. Shortly thereafter they moved to Haslett and together they raised three daughters Deanna, Tracy and Carla.
Michael spent over 40 years working in the construction trades as a journeyman plumber, master plumber and plumbing inspector. He was a retired member of the Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 333 (formerly 388) in Lansing, retiring in 2006 from the State of Michigan as the Assistant Chief of the Plumbing Inspection Division.
Mike was preceded in death by his father Albert Louis Evans. He is survived by his wife of 48 years Donna Evans, daughters Deanna (Ron) Wagner of DeWitt, Tracy (Frank) Van Atta of Arlington, Virginia and Carla (Dave) English of Seattle, Washington. Surviving him also are grandchildren and great grandchildren, Stephanie (Nic) and Drake Kronberg of Charlotte, Todd, Chloe and Landen Brenizer of Lansing, Josh (Raven) Cypress & Alizae Wagner of Lansing and Michelle (Joseph) and Sarah Calabrese of DeWitt. In addition Mike is survived by his mother Geraldine Evans of St. Johns, brothers Stephen (Cheryl) Evans of DeWitt, Mark (Carol) Evans of DeWitt, brother in-law Jerry (Cheryl) McAllister of Ithaca, sister in-law Sally Reava of Perrinton and many nieces and nephews.
The family of Michael Joseph Evans will receive visitors on Friday, February 8, from 5:00-8:00 pm and again on Saturday, February 9 from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 1730 East Grand River Avenue, East Lansing, Michigan. Services for Mike will be held Saturday February 9, 2013 at 12:00 pm at the chapel. Interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery, 2600 East Mt. Hope Avenue, Lansing, Michigan 48910.
