Michael Eston VanOrder

Michael Eston VanOrder, age 83, passed away on January 20, 2024 at home under hospice care. He was born April 23, 1940 in Ionia, Michigan to Margaret Frances (Hogan) and Eston VanOrder. His first wife, Judith Ann Cook, preceded him in death. He married Jacqueline Ann (Herman) Killian on July 15, 1989.

Mike attended Sunfield High School. He worked at Diamond/Reo and retired from Ingham Medical Hospital in 1995. He was a member of Mid-Michigan Model A Club (although he had a red 1957 Chevy which he dearly loved).

Mike was a longtime resident of East Lansing. He loved his family dearly, especially his grandchildren.

Husband of Jacqueline Ann Killian. Father of Scott (Joely) VanOrder and Brian (Tonya) VanOrder. Step-father of Anne Marie (the late James Mohney) Killian and Johanna Killian (Steve) Earls. Grandfather of Seth Killian, Gage VanOrder, Avery VanOrder, Grace VanOrder, and twins, Harrison VanOrder and Walker VanOrder. Brother of Ann VanOrder Thompson, the late James Walter VanOrder and the late Ruthann Curtis Ward – Ruthann had been placed for adoption and found Mike in 2008. Also survived by several nieces and nephews as well as special friends, Gary and Mary Grant, Bob and Vicky Doll, and Harbor Cove friends in Florida.

Mike could always be the life of the party and he never knew a stranger.

Visitation will be held on February 24, 2024 from 12 noon until memorial service at 1 p.m. at Gorsline Runciman East Chapel, 1730 E. Grand River, East Lansing.
