Miriam "Mimsy" Keyes Celio, beloved wife of the late William J. Celio, and loving mother to Gail and William Jr., passed away peacefully on Dec. 30, 2025. Mimsy was born August 20, 1946, in Middletown, CT, the daughter of John "Josh" and Miriam (McCarthy) Keyes. She graduated from Central Connecticut State College and Michigan State University, and taught elementary school in the Haslett school system for 27 years, retiring in 1998.
Mimsy loved the water, whether she was sailing on it, swimming in it, or diving under it. Her hobbies included cross stitch and knitting; many relatives and friends (and their children) have been gifted baby blankets knitted by her. She was a member of the MSU Women's Club and St. Thomas Aquinas Church. Mimsy was also a voracious reader and watcher of mysteries, and a die-hard Spartans fan.
She is survived by her children, Gail and Billy Celio; brother Jeff (Beverly) Keyes and sisters Kathy (Jim) Reardon and Denise J. Pagliaro; and many cousins, (grand)nieces, and (grand)nephews. A memorial service will be held in East Lansing in the spring. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, P.O. Box 91891, Washington, D.C. 20090-1891, nationalmssociety.org/how-you-can-help/ways-to-give; or St. Thomas Aquinas Church, 955 Alton Rd, East Lansing, MI, 48823, elcatholics.org/giving.
