Norma J Stoddard

Beloved mother, grandmother and friend, passed away March 3, 2012 at home surrounded by those whose lives she had touched. She was 83 years old.Born Norma Jean Suggate on May 14, 1928 to Harold and Laura Suggate. She

married the love of her life Dale Stoddard on September 13, 1945. Norma was active in school functions when her children were growing up and was also a Cub Scout den leader. She was a seamstress and enjoyed each of the customers she sewed for. Norma loved to play cards at the Snell Recreation Center and with friends and relatives at her house.

Norma loved her large extended family of children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and friends who all called her Grandma, or “G” for short. She enjoyed cooking and singing and being with family members and friends at her lake house and during holidays and whenever anyone needed comfort or conversation. She wanted to help and comfort everyone she met including the animals that entered her life.

Norma was preceded in death by her husband Dale of 45 years and her brother, Roy. Norma is survived by her four children; Ronald Stoddard of Lake Odessa, Judith (Harry) Hurst, Barbara Noonan and Sanford Stoddard, all of East Lansing. She had eleven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren; three sisters; Reva (Willard), Shirley (Bernard) and Marcia Suggate and several nieces and nephews. A Funeral Service will be held Friday, March 9, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 1730 E. Grand River Ave., East Lansing.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1755 Abbey Rd, East Lansing, MI 48823 or Capital Area Humane Society, 7095
