On the day that Patty was born, May 7, 1949, the world became a brighter place to live. She spent her younger years growing up in Lansing, MI with her nurturing parents, Edward and Hyacinth Husbeck, and her incredible siblings, Ed (Diane) Jr. and Terry. On her journey through life she exemplified the epitome of strength, grace, kindness and love. On top of that, Patty was indispensible during her 39 years of service in the Michigan Legislature where she devoted her time and energy to helping others and enriching the lives of her coworkers. She was also an accomplished athlete and a tremendous supporter of women in sports. Most recently, she scored gold medals in the Michigan Senior Olympics, running both the 100 and 200 meter dashes. Patty’s family was nearest to her heart and brought her the greatest joy. For 38 years she and her devoted husband, Nick, laughed, lived and loved together. Her most treasured gift from their union is her remarkable daughter, Lauren (Michael) Schulte. The trio has a bond that will never be broken. She left us way too soon, but we will carry her in our hearts and smiles always. She will forever light up our world. The funeral service will be held Thursday, June 13, 2013, 1:00 p.m. at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, East Lansing, with visitation 2 hours prior. Contributions may be made to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, Greater Lansing Affiliate, P. O. Box 4360, East Lansing, MI 48826-4368 in memory of Patty.
