Peter George Eberz

Peter was born on June 12, 1945, to parents Peter J. Eberz and Ruth M. Eberz in Brooklyn, New York. Raised in Buffalo, New York, he began his lifelong journey of love and commitment when he married his wife, Yvonne Joanne Zaritsky, on December 27, 1969.

A graduate of the University of Detroit in 1967 with a degree in civil engineering, Peter embarked on a distinguished early career, working in public works for multiple cities throughout the Midwest. As a licensed professional engineer, his work was instrumental in building and maintaining vital infrastructure that improved the lives of countless people.

In 1979, Peter and his family made Okemos, Michigan their permanent home, where he joined the public works department for the city of East Lansing. Over the next 23 years, Peter dedicated his expertise and unwavering commitment to this community, ultimately retiring in 2003 as the Director of Public Works.

While Peter's career was noteworthy, his heart truly belonged to his family. He was a loving and supportive husband, father, and grandfather. He derived immense joy from spending time with his children and grandchildren, often cheering them on in their various extracurricular endeavors.

In his leisure time, Peter enjoyed reading, card-playing, and golf. He was a passionate Michigan State fan, and unwavering Detroit Lions supporter.

Peter is survived by his siblings, Kevin Eberz (Nora), Robert Eberz (Pat), Mary Brass, and Kate Monks (Tom); his children, Erin McKinney, Kimberly Bristol (Raymond), and Mike Eberz; his cherished grandchildren, Megan and Peter McKinney, Max and Nick Bristol, Joe Swanson, and Luke Eberz; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Peter was predeceased by his loving wife, Yvonne Joanne Eberz, his parents, Peter and Ruth Eberz, his sister Nancy Eberz, and brother-in-law Chris Brass.

In accordance with Peter's wishes, services will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that contributions be made in his name to the Sparrow Hospital Children's Miracle Network or the American Cancer Society.
