Richard George Dyhouse, age 70, passed away on March 2, 2021. He was born January 22, 1951 in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania, the son of George Samuel and Lois Madeline (Albinger) Dyhouse. Richard moved to Chicago to go to college and there is where he met Kathryn Greenman at a medical conference. Richard and Kathryn recently celebrated their 44th wedding anniversary on January 15th. They resided in Lisle, IL until 2020 when they moved to DeWitt, Michigan to be closer to their daughter and her family.
Richard worked in the medical field for over 45 years, which he was very dedicated to. It was his dedication and strong work ethic that made him thrive on working endless hours each week. He traveled on a daily basis to different hospitals and laboratories across the United States, Canada and Switzerland. On many of his trips to Switzerland, his daughter, Karen would join him. Due to his extensive traveling he became a Million Miler. He retired in 2020.
Richard lived a life of adventure, from flying airplanes to skydiving to scuba diving. There was a time when every year, Richard and Kathryn would visit a ranch in Michigan to horseback ride with friends. He had a collection of drones and he loved to fly them. He also enjoyed going to the health club and taking part in spin classes, TRX, and yoga. One might say that he had a competitive side. Traveling and all the adventures could not compare to the joy of spending Papa time with his grandchildren. He enjoyed many activities with them which included helping them with schoolwork during the pandemic.
He is survived by his loving wife, Kathryn Dyhouse; daughter, Karen (Troy) Schniers; granddaughter, Kaitlyn Schniers; grandson, Kollin Schniers; and his identical twin brother, Robert Dyhouse.
In keeping with Richard’s wishes, a cremation has taken place. A private family service will be held at St. Thomas Aquinas in East Lansing, Michigan. Those wishing to make a memorial contribution in Richard’s name, may do so to a charity of your choice.
