Richard G. Houghton

Richard G. Houghton, 85, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 1, 2016 in Charlotte, Michigan. He was born on May 29, 1930 in Pontiac, Michigan to George and Genevieve (Renner) Houghton. He served in the United States Air Force and retired from Ford Motor Company, where he worked as a systems analyst. Richard enjoyed spending time outside; whether gardening, hiking, or just enjoying nature, he stayed active well into his 80's. He liked to work with his hands, and became a skilled woodworker over time. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Lois; his daughter, Jennifer (Troy) Nichols; his sons, Stephen (Aimee) and Geoffrey Houghton; his six grandchildren; and his sister Ruth Fiscus. He was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 4, 2016 from 11:00am to 1:00pm, with a prayer service to follow at 1:00pm, at the Gorsline Runciman Funeral Home, East Chapel, 1730 E. Grand River Ave., East Lansing. Interment will take place at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan, with Military Honors to be accorded.
