Age 80, passed away February 9, 2017. She was born January 30, 1937 in Detroit, MI to Leo and Mary (Nickols) Dion. Rita taught in the Waverly school district at Park and Colt Elementary. Her hobbies were reading, watching TV and enjoying movies. She will be greatly missed by her many brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Tawfik Shetiah; siblings Mary, Patricia, Leo, Joseph, Anthony, Ann Marie, Charles and Mary Olive.
The Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, February 15, 2017, 11:00 a.m., St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 955 Alton Road, East Lansing, MI with Rev. Mike Murray officiating. Interment will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 14, 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m., Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 1730 East Grand River Avenue, East Lansing and one hour prior at the church. The Rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
