

Robert “Bob” Otto Marklewitz, 94, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 19, 2015. He was born December 17, 1921 in Lansing, MI to Emil and Ethel (Hetzner) Marklewitz. He spent much of his life in Lansing, where he worked as an award winning engineer at Oldsmobile for 40 years before retiring. Bob was a WWII Navy Seabee veteran, and a founding member of Faith Lutheran Church in Okemos. He was a man of many hobbies: raising labs and beagles, piloting his own airplanes, and operating his HAM radio (call signal K8NNZ). Bob was an avid hunter and fisherman, and he loved playing music – he was an accomplished musician of several instruments. He built the family home and after retirement, he operated his own tool sharpening business for 16 years. He was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Phyllis, his son, Robert Craig Marklewitz, his son-in-law, Guy Ross Jamieson, and sister-in-law, Susan Marklewitz. He will be lovingly remembered by his daughters, Cheryl Diane Jamieson and Patrice Anna (Bob) Booker; his grandchildren, Angela (Terry) Crawford and Adam Goforth; his great-grandchildren, Jamieson and Selah Crawford; his brother, William “Bill” Marklewitz; and his nieces and nephew, Kathy, Laura, and John. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, December 23, 2015 at 11:00am at Faith Lutheran Church, 4515 Dobie Rd., Okemos, MI. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery in Lansing.
