Obituary of Robert Dean Earley
IN THE CARE OF

Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes

Bob passed away at age 95 on December 24, 2023, from natural causes.

He was born in Lansing, Michigan to William and Gladys (nee Mentel) Earley. He attended Lansing Public Schools, graduating from Eastern High School. A life long fan, Bob attended Michigan State University where he earned a Bachelor (BA) of Psychology and a Masters degree in Social Work (MSW).

While at Michigan State, he met the love of his life, Jean Raven, in the university library. They were married on May 27, 1950.

Bob and Jean resided briefly in the Detroit area, then settled in the Lansing metro area including Haslett and Okemos. Bob resided in East Lansing the last few years of his life. Bob was a Psychiatric Social Worker in the private practice, helping people until he was into his 70's. He was a generous person, a humanist and a critical thinker, as well as an avid reader and a great singer. Bob and Jean enjoyed their travels in Northern Michigan.

Bob and Jean had six children: Rob (Sue), Chris (Marla), Steve, Jim (Claire), Jean Minnema (Jack), and Kate Earley Daniels. And 17 grandkids and 19 great grandkids. Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Jean, (1-18-2010), son, Steve (8-5-2012) and sister, Carolyn (7-20-2019). A private burial and celebration of life will be held.

The family would like to thank the nurses of Careline Hospice and staff of the Burcham Hills retirement home for their considerate and sensitive care of our father in the final days of his life.

Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
