Robert C. Ramsey

Bob was born on February 25, 1947, in Lansing, MI to his parents, Russell and Mary (Martinese) Ramsey.

Bob was a loving and dedicated husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his beloved wife of 29 years, Jean (Richards); his 5 sons, Jeffrey, Kevin (Michele), Greg (Jennifer), Donnie and Brian; his 3 daughters, Jill, Jennie (Matthew) Kroge and Jessica (William) Sherry; his 8 grandchildren, Brooke, Jeffrey, Megan, Rachel, Audrey, Aviana, Raelle and Harper, and his brother, Dennis.

Bob graduated from Lansing Everett High School in 1965 and worked for the State of Michigan for 25 years until his retirement. In 1990, he married his soul mate and the love of his life, Jean, and together, they shared and enjoyed many years of happiness.

Bob was a committed and loyal ice hockey fan, having played for enjoyment during his youth. He loved watching the Detroit Red Wings, and followed the MSU Hockey team all of his life as a ticket holder, as well as travelling to many of their away games. His favorite trip was flying with the team to Alaska, where MSU played Alaska Fairbanks.

Bob was a committed youth soccer coach and AYSO Commissioner, travelling statewide to encourage the establishment of leagues throughout Michigan. He was instrumental in taking several youth soccer teams to Denmark, and helped to sponsor the Denmark team to travel to Michigan.

Bob was a passionate Italian cook, having learned from his mother and grandmother, and never used a cookbook to create his famous sauces, meatballs and pasta dishes. He also enjoyed painting and creating many Ramsey works of art using the Bob Ross method.

Bob was very much a family man. He loved his boat and his RV, always looking forward to spending his summers camping and boating with his family on Michigan’s beautiful lakes.

A memorial service will be held to celebrate his life on Saturday, January 11 at 11:00 a.m. at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Home at 1730 E. Grand River Ave., East Lansing, MI. Visitation is Friday, January 10 from 5-7 p.m. and Saturday, January 11 from 9:30-11 a.m.
