Robert was born October 6, 1945 in Detroit, Michigan to Joseph R and Janet Morrison Wilkis, both of whom predeceased him.
Bob is survived by his loving wife of almost 48 years, Susan Marrs Wilkis, as well as his brother, Dr. Joseph L. Wilkis of Cape Elizabeth, Maine. Other family includes niece, Lauren Wilkis Bedford and family of Scarsdale, New York; nephew, Dr. Drew Wilkis and family of Flagstaff, Arizona; sister-in-law, Margaret Wilkis of Portland, Maine; mother-in-law, Jacqueline Marrs of Williamston, Michigan; brother-in-law, David Marrs and family of Durand, Michigan; and many other family and friends.
Bob attended Sacred Heart Catholic Schools in Dearborn, Michigan, graduating in 1963, and Michigan State University, graduating in 1972.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1968 to 1970, spending 18 months in Korea.
Bob worked for the State of Michigan for over 35 years, retiring as Director of the Call Center in Lansing, Michigan.
In accordance with Bob’s wishes, there will be no memorial service.
The family will be holding a Celebration of Bob’s Life on April 13, 2022 from 2:00 - 4:00 PM at the MSU University Club, 3435 Forest Rd., Lansing, MI 48910.
Bob was a wonderful man, loved and admired by his family, friends, and many co-workers.
