

Roland Andersen was born on June 26, 1935 in Manistique, Michigan, to Ivar L. and Florence (Teft) Andersen, He attended Williamston High School and graduated with the class of 1956 before attending the University of Michigan, where he graduated with a economics degree in 1960. After college, Roland entered the Army from 1960-1961. Roland worked for the State of Michigan and retired after 40 plus years of service.
On July 8, 1961, Roland married Ethel G Sherman in Ann Arbor, Michigan. They met at the University of Michigan, both graduates, and loved supporting their alma mater. They were married for 63 years, raised two children, and watched their grandson grow into adulthood, marry and have three great grandchildren. Roland is survived by his children, Erik (Phillip) Andersen and Christina Burkitt; his grandson, Joshua (Amanda) Burkitt; and great-grandchildren, Emma, Jack, and Theo Burkitt. He also leaves two nephews and one niece.
Roland is preceded in death by wife Ethel, his brother Ivar Eldon, his parents, Ivar and Florence (Teft) Andersen; and his grandparents, Ruben and Nettie Teft and Nels Peter and Johanna Kristine Andersen.
Roland was a lifelong Mason, active in the community, volunteering at various local museums and recorded books for the blind. Roland wrote a blog on University of Michigan football for many years having press box credentials for his reporting. Roland was an avid radio controlled airplane flyer and enthusiast and flew as often as time would allow.
A private ceremony will be held for the immediate family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice in his memory.
Roland will be deeply missed by his family all who knew him.
