

Ronald A. Clements, 89, of Lansing, MI passed away January 9, 2013. Ron was hired as a draftsman at Federal Drop Forge Co. in 1941 eventually becoming Vice President in 1979. He served in the U.S. Infantry during World War II in Europe and in Japan. Ron married Joane Forton on October 4, 1947, and she survives him. Ron is preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Ella Clements; sister, Josephine Boughton; brother, Kenneth Clements; son, Larry (Connie) Clements; and grandson, Jason Clements. Along with Joane he is survived by his daughters, Bonnie (Ernie) Baker, Vickie (Tom) Derengoski, Carol Smith, and Donna (Jim Lopez) Archer. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins, all of whom Ron had very great affection for. Ron enjoyed enduring relationships with his and Joane’s square dancing friends, army reunion buddies, and his breakfast pals from Federal Drop Forge known as “the grumpy old men”. Ron and Joane traveled extensively throughout the USA during retirement. They hiked to MSU women’s basketball games and to Wendy’s for lunch. They were always on the go but their favorite events were family gatherings they hosted. They loved attending games or events involving their grandkids and great grandkids. The family wishes to thank the caregivers at both Burcham Hills Retirement Community and Dimondale Nursing Center for their kindness and compassion. A memorial service will be held Monday, January 14, at Noon, at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 1730 E. Grand River Ave., East Lansing, with the Rev. Steve Ezop officiating.
