Ron was born February 19th, 1962 in West Palm Beach, FL to Ronald Edwards Sr. and Judith Daniels. When Ron was 2, his family moved back to their home state of Michigan. Even as a child, and throughout his life, Ron never met a person who wasn't his friend. With an infectious love of life, he set out to be the best he could be at everything he did, and often was. Throughout his life, he sought to be a hero in the truest sense of the word; a true champion of mind, body, and heart.
He was very proud to have been chosen to name Mud Lake in Haslett. He enjoyed all sports throughout high school, and had a love for motorcycles that would carry on throughout his whole life. As a young man, he worked his way up to the position of manager at a local motorcycle shop in Haslett. After graduating high school in 1980, he took welding and body building classes at Lansing Community College before joining the army in 1984. He served a total of 6 years with an ending rank of SSG E6 and an MOS of Lightwheel Mechanic. He earned the physical readiness training award, the marksman tab for the M16 rifle, the expert qualification for hand grenade, and the army good conduct medal. Additionally, he was invited to attend a specialized class on nuclear biological chemical (NBC) weapon defense training in 1989.
After 3 exciting years of dating, Ron married Heather Decke on June 3rd, 1989, followed shortly by two children. In 1997, Ron and his family moved down to Tennessee for warmer weather. Ron's passion for helping people carried over into his work - painting, landscaping, building, and other handyman services. He named his business The Lord's Painter, after becoming a deeply devout Christian man 7 years after marrying Heather. He attended the Happy Hill Missionary Baptist church in Lynnville, TN. He taught Sunday school to teens and adults, and led a Bible study from his home.
In 2013, Ron was catastrophically injured, leaving him paralyzed from the shoulders down. That didn't stop his adventurous spirit, however, or his love for life and people. He became famously known as "Rollin' Ron" around Lynnville because of his many solo stunts wheelin' around town, chatting with anyone who had time to discuss the deeper things of life.
Ron is survived by wife, Heather, and children Tehya (finaceè Will Powers) and Ty (wife Nicole); father Ronald Edwards Sr. (wife Linda), and stepfather John Delano; siblings Steve (wife Sue), Elizabeth Naranjo (husband Lance), and Amy Naranjo; and numerous other extended family members who all held a special place in his heart.
