

Roxanne S. Burgett, born August 6, 1932 to Marx and Ida Mae (LaPan) Taylor, passed away November 6, 2013. She was a resident of Okemos for 46 years and an active member of St. Katherine’s Episcopal Church where she enjoyed her Bible studies. Roxanne liked to cook, garden, hook rugs, go antiquing and work in her yard. After her retirement as secretary in the Okemos Public Schools she loved to travel with her husband in their motor home. She was also a member of the Meridian Historical Village and she loved her pets. Preceding her in death were her parents and granddaughter, Alexandra Elizabeth Burgett. Surviving to cherish her memory are her husband of 61 years, Norval; her daughters, Mary (Jerry) Rivard and Elizabeth “Betsy” (Gary) Chapman; her son, Mark Joseph (Molly) Burgett; grandchildren, Lauren Tracie Burgett, Jessica Ann Rivard and Madeline Suzanne Burgett. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 12, at St. Katherine’s Episcopal Church, 4650 N. Meridian Road, Williamston, Michigan 48895, officiated by Rev. Ronald Byrd, Sr. Family will receive friends from 2:00 – 4:00 and 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 10, and from 2:00 – 4:00 and 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Monday, November 11, at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes East Lansing Chapel, 1730 East Grand River Avenue, and one hour prior to the service at church. Those desiring may make contributions to St. Katherine’s Episcopal Church and/or Friends of Historical Meridian, 5151 Marsh Road, Okemos, Michigan 48864, in memory of Roxanne Burgett.
