Ruth Ann (Noelcke) MacKenzie, loving mother, grandmother, and wife, passed away peacefully on January 18, 2021, at the age of 87. Ruth truly cared about people and every living thing. She was often selfless in helping others, she always wanted to “fix” any unpleasantness in their lives. Her care for animals and plants brought her great joy. Ruth was a great athlete, her prowess often shaming others that were much younger and in the prime of their athletic life. She was proud to be a Girl Scout Leader with multiple troops, where she encouraged her girls that they could do anything boys did, just better. She worked diligently and successfully to prevent a multinational corporation from locating a landfill in her community and watershed. In retirement, she was very active in bettering her community with volunteer work for the Women’s Business Association and Chamber of Commerce, always helping in any way needed including with her accounting background. Ruth’s quirkiness and creative mind lead her to be a great story teller, mostly from life experiences (hers or others). When Ruth had some time for herself, she loved a glass of wine, games, and puzzles with friends and family, and when alone, Sudoku and her game shows. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents Caroline (Jonas) Noelcke and Carl Noelcke; her sister Caroline Arbogast (Noelcke); her brothers Carl Noelcke, Wilbur Noelcke, and Ralph Noelcke. Ruth is survived by her sister, Dorothy Lamberty, her husband of 68 years, Robert Douglas MacKenzie, her son Robert Bruce MacKenzie, her daughters Barbara Alice MacKenzie, Catherine Ann Hardwick, and Deborah Ruth MacKenzie-Taylor (Allan Taylor), and grandchildren (Jacob, Clinton, Elizabeth, Ellie (Adelaide), Gordon, Ethan).
