S. Richard Heisey

S. Richard Heisey was born on October 16, 1928 in Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania, and passed away on February 28, 2016 at the age of 87. His parents were Samuel H. and Grace (Fink) Heisey. He received his Doctor of Science Degree from Johns Hopkins University and completed his post-doctoral research at Harvard Medical School. Richard was a Professor at the Department of Physiology at Michigan State University from 1967 to 1998. He was preceded in death by his brother, Robert. He was married to his wife, Ann, for 57 years. He is survived by his daughter, Janet Heisey; son, David Heisey; and grandchildren, Jacob and Caitlin Heisey. A Memorial Service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, March 4, 2016 at The Peoples Church, 200 W. Grand River Ave., East Lansing, MI with Rev. Andrew Pomerville officiating. There will also be a visitation one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Richard’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association, Capital Area Regional Office, 2111 University Park Dr., Ste. 200, Okemos, MI. 48864 or to The Peoples Church, 200 W.
