Sonhee was born to parents Hyuck Lee and Lucy Kim on September 13, 1939 in Seoul, Korea. In 1969, she married the love of her life, Herbert Mercer, at the People’s Church in East Lansing, Michigan. Sonhee was a beloved first grade teacher until her retirement in 2000.
She was a long-time volunteer at Sparrow Hospital and was a member of the People’s Church and later at Asbury Church in Lansing, Michigan.
Sonhee is survived by her husband, Herbert, and extended family. The family respectfully requests no flowers. For those wishing to make a donation in Sonhee’s memory, the family suggests that donations be made either to Sparrow Hospital or the Lion’s Club in Lansing.
Per Sonhee’s wishes, the services will be private. She will be interred at the Memorial Garden of the People’s Church of East Lansing, Michigan.
