Taimi W. Atkinson

East Lansing, Michigan

Born February 24, 1913 in Three Lakes, Michigan, the daughter of

John and Hilma (Gronroos) Warjonen, passed away July 20, 2013

at the age of 100. Taimi attended Grace Hospital School of Nursing and was a Registered Nurse. She married Everett Atkinson, MD in Ishpeming, MI on July 2, 1941 and they moved to East Lansing that same year. She worked as a nurse for many years, retiring at the age of 78. Her church, University Lutheran, was very special to her. She was a member of the Parkwood YMCA and also volunteered her time with the Red Cross. She was an avid Spartan and Detroit Tiger fan. Taimi was an inspiration to everyone who knew her. She devoted her life to giving to others, especially her family and friends. She never stopped making new friends even at the age of 100. Preceded in death by her parents; loving husband Everett H. Atkinson, MD; and three brothers and two sisters. Surviving to cherish her memory are her daughter, Nancy Atkinson (Craig Tefft); three loving granddaughters, Courtney (Eddie) Ostipow of Portland, MI, Adrienne (Ken) Williamson of Tucson AZ, and Whitney (Paul) Weinkein of Meridian ID; six great grandchildren, Evan, Owen, and Auden Ostipow, Jada Williamson, and Cameron and Caysen Weinkein. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, July 23, 2013 at University Lutheran Church, 1020 S. Harrison in East Lansing.
