

Passed away on May 26, 2017 at the age of 79. Wayne was born April 19, 1938 in Paris, TN to Barney M. and Louise E. (Lomax) Owen. He was a resident of East Lansing for over 65 years and a member and Deacon of Towar Hart Baptist Church. Wayne loved to travel, enjoyed fishing, was a volunteer firefighter for Meridian Township and was a member of Cowboys for Christ. He was a professional clown known as “Peanuts” and performed magic both in the circus and for friends. Wayne was also a member of the American Revolution Reenactment.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Ann Lickert and brother, James Owen.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Jennie; daughters, Cindy (David) Wise and Julie (Dean Fuller) Hilton (Owen); son, Toby Lee Owen; seven grandchildren, Laura (Andy) Gaskin, Amber (Mike) Dechert, Rebecca (John) Wise, Matthew (Lacey) Wise, Elizabeth Webster, Ralph (Alisha) Webster and Jake Webster; eight great-grandchildren; brother, Mitch (Judy) Owens and brother-in-law, Bob Lickert.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 31, 2017, 11 a.m., Towar Hart Baptist Church, 6157 Towar Avenue, East Lansing, with visitation one hour prior at the church.
