

Richard was born September 27, 1935 in Lansing, MI to Katie and Elvin Montgomery. He died at home, (in the home he and his dad built in Haslett) January 10, 2018, surrounded by his wife Janet and their family.
He graduated from Eastern High School in 1953 and proudly joined the Marine Corps the same year; was stationed at Camp Pendleton and served in Korea. He married his high school sweetheart, Janet Arts, December 3, 1955 (“Ruby” his royal gem). He was employed at Precision Boring Tool Co. for 31 years and retired from Tool Craft in 1997.
Richard loved his Honda Gold Wing. They took numerous vacations riding it to many states. His favorite past time was making things for family and friends. He was the life of the party, was loved and respected by all who knew him.
He is survived by his loving wife Janet, celebrating their 62nd anniversary in December, 2017. Two sons, Jeff (LuAnne) and Rick (Cheryl); grandchildren, Lynsi, Jordan (Kimm), Sarah (Luke) and Forrest; sister, Maxine (Jim) Bosley and family; brother, Rodger (Kathy) and family; sister-in-law, Joyce Oberg and family; brother-in-law, Dave (Paige) and family and brother-in-law, Bill Arts and family, and his Pomeranian, “Missy”.
He is predeceased by his parents; sister, Mildred Paige; mother and father-in-law, June and Joe Arts.
Memorial services will be held Tuesday, January 16, 12:00 pm with visitation one hour prior, Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 1730 East Grand River Avenue. East Lansing, MI.
