With profound sadness and heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved brother, Tonye Boima Amachree, who departed from this earthly realm on July 12, 2023. Tonye was a devoted son, loving brother, proud father, and kind soul, whose impact on the lives he touched will be cherished forever.
Tonye was born on November 1st in Monrovia, Liberia. He grew up in Macomb, Illinois where he lived with his parents, Igolima & Mara, and brothers, Selepri & Opuene. Tonye attended elementary and graduated from Macomb Senior High School in 1989.
After high school, Tonye pursued his education with dedication and passion. He started his academic career at the esteemed University of Iowa where he played football under Hayden Fry. Tonye finished his Bachelor of Science degree at Western Illinois University and proceeded to pursue his dreams by completing his Masters degree in Exercise Science and Physiology at Western Michigan University with his thesis titled "The Effects of Chromium Picolinate on Lean Body Mass of College Students". The effort and energy he put into his academic achievements were a testament to his unwavering determination and commitment to personal growth and excellence.
Beyond his academic accomplishments, Tonye was a man of gentle spirit and unwavering kindness. He had a quiet demeanor that belied the strength of his character and the love of the Lord he carried within his heart. He was a proud father to three beautiful girls, Amaya, Ava & Emma, who were the light in his heart and loves of his life.
One of the pillars of Tonye's life was his strong belief in God. He lived his life guided by faith and spirituality, finding strength and solace in prayer and his relationship with our Divine Father. His unwavering faith carried him through many life challenges, and he embraced every opportunity to share the message of love, hope, and grace with others.
In addition to his academic pursuits and spiritual journey, Tonye was an advocate for health and fitness. He used his knowledge in exercise science and physiology to inspire others to lead healthier lives and achieve their fitness goals.
Tonye, our brother… your presence in our lives was a gift, and though you may no longer be with us in body, your spirit will remain forever alive in our hearts. You were always calm, quiet, and kind. Life was not always fair; however, you trusted in the Lord when times were hard. We will always remember how you never complained, as your trust in our Lord was absolute. We find solace in knowing that you are now in the loving embrace of our Creator.
1 Corinthians 6:19-20:
"Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you,
whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought
at a price. Therefore, honor God with your bodies."
You are forever in our hearts, Tonye.
