Vincent Paul Andrews

Vincent Paul Andrews of Okemos, Michigan passed away peacefully on January 8, 2024 at the age of 68. Vince was born in Pontiac, Michigan to Ernest and Jenny Andrews. He earned a degree in finance and business law from Western Michigan University, where he met his loving wife of forty-five years, Margaret; they were married in Detroit.

Vince worked in the risk management and insurance adjustment field and began his professional life with the General Adjustment Bureau in Kalamazoo and then Traverse City, Michigan. After years of crisscrossing the state as an adjuster, he took on administrative roles and recently retired from the Michigan Catholic Conference in Lansing after a long and successful career as Manager of Risk Management and Claims Services. Vince treasured helping people through his work so much that he continued to act as a consultant even after his retirement.

Vince loved being out on the water, fishing in northern Michigan for smallmouth and salmon, golfing with buddies (anywhere and everywhere), and pheasant hunting with his beloved birddog, Lucy. He and Marge shared several road trips around the US together and traveled abroad, driving through Great Britain, Italy, and Belgium, where he was able to see his mother’s childhood home. Vince was always up for a rousing game of rummy or euchre and so often the life of any party. He had a great sense of humor and could strike up a conversation with anyone. Vince's fun-loving, generous spirit will be so missed by all who knew him.

Vince is survived by his wife, Marge, who was at his side until the end. He is also survived by his daughter Jenna Andrews-Swann, of whom he was extremely proud, and his son-in-law Chris Swann (Athens, Georgia), his dear sister-in-law Sue Hazleton (Macomb Township, Michigan), his nephews Tim (Linden, Michigan) and Steve Andrews (Harrison Township, Michigan), and his cousins Deb Schroeder (Tawas, Michigan), Linda Andrews (Tuscaloosa, Alabama), and Shelley Jacobson (Sylvan Lake, Michigan). Vince is also survived by members of Marge’s family, including John Twork and wife Sherry (Kingsport, Tennessee), Jim Twork and wife Elaine (Manistee, Michigan), nieces Monica and Elizabeth and nephew Greg Twork, and his friends since childhood, Tim Karagosian (Clarkston, Michigan) and Rick Gentges (Presque Isle, Michigan). Vince is predeceased by his parents and his brother, Phillip Andrews, and by Marge’s parents, Jack and Helen Twork.

Vince’s life will be honored at a visitation and rosary service at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes’ East Lansing Chapel (1730 East Grand River Ave, East Lansing, MI 48823) on Monday, January 15 beginning at 2:00PM. A visitation and funeral mass will also be held on Tuesday, January 16 beginning at 10:00AM at Saint Martha Parish (1100 W Grand River Ave, Okemos, MI 48864). In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to one or more of the charities that Vince cared about: Cristo Rey Community Center; the Greater Lansing Food Bank; and Loaves and Fishes Ministries.
