William John Celio, beloved husband, father and friend, went peacefully to God’s house on April 10, 2011. Bill was born July 5, 1944 in Chicago, son of Dominic and Eileen (Kroggel) Celio. He graduated from Lindblom High School and the University of Illinois. He was employed by the Illinois Power Company for eight years before moving to Michigan. He worked for the State of Michigan in the Public Service Commission from 1974-2004. After retiring he did private consulting from his WJCC office.
He married Jeanette Soso on August 12, 1967 and they had two children, Gail Jean and William John. She preceded him in death. A new family was created when he wed Mimsy Case on July 31, 1982. Bill’s hobbies were crossword puzzles, coin collecting, playing and coaching soccer, sailing and spending time at his northern home near Burt Lake. He was involved in Scouting for 25 years and became an Eagle Scout. He was a member of Lansing Sailing Club and Ascension Lutheran Church.
He is survived by his wife, Mimsy; daughter, Gail of Minneapolis, MN; and son, Billy of Northridge, CA.
Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, April 19, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Ascension Lutheran Church, 2780 Haslett Rd., East Lansing. The family will receive friends at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 1730 E. Grand River Ave., East Lansing on Monday, April 18, 2011 from 4-7 p.m. Burial will be at a later date at Evergreen Cemetery, Evergreen Park, IL.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to Boy Scouts of America, National Council, P.O. Box 152079, Irving, TX 75015-2079 or Ascension Lutheran Church, 2780 Haslett Rd., East Lansing, MI 48823.
