Died suddenly at age 70. William was a retired school teacher who worked in the Detroit Public School District for 33 years. He was a veteran having served in the U.S. Army. William was the beloved soul mate of Maureen (Foley) for 49 years. He was a proud and devoted father of William (Nancy), Sean (Michele), Kenneth (Lisa) and Margo (Frank) Jenkins; loving grandfather of Jessa, Sarah, Aubrey Gargan and Hunter, Cydney and Reed Jenkins. William is also survived by his sisters, Kathleen (Gordy) Stewart, Rita Young; brothers, Raymond (Judy), James Gargan; brother-in-law, Michael (Pat) Foley; sister-in-law, Mary (Tom) Corbott, as well as many nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, February 4, 2012, 2:00 pm, at St. Martha’s Catholic Church, 1100 W. Grand River, Okemos, MI 48864. A luncheon will follow the Mass. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Vietnam Veterans of America. The family is being served by Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, East Lansing.
