William Mathew Haskins, 83, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 18, 2018 in Lansing, Michigan. Born September 1, 1934 in Grand Rapids, Michigan to Varion and Catherine (Mazaka) Haskins, William was a longtime Haslett resident: growing up in the area, playing many sports throughout his childhood, and eventually raising his own family there. He was a fan of all sports, and especially anything MSU. He loved to hunt but his passion was fishing, whether off a dock, on a boat in the ocean, in the middle of Lake Michigan, or up north at Stony Lake.
He was preceded in death by his parents; children, Michael Haskins and Kim Haskins and his son-in-law, Steven “Omar” Vollmar.
He is survived by his wife, Billie Haskins; children, Cameron Haskins, Forrest Haskins and Cathie Vollmar; granddaughters, Madison Haskins and Reilly Haskins; grandson, William “Billy” Haskins and sisters, Ann (Terry) Bachur and Myrna (Gary Tinseth) Haskins.
Memorial Services will be held on Thursday, August 2, 2018 at 4 p.m. at New Hope Church, 1340 Haslett Road, Haslett. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at church.
