

Wilton Henry Goetz, 91, of Haslett, MI passed away at Sparrow Hospice House of Mid-Michigan on the 24th of December 2015. He was born February 11, 1924 in Williamston, the son of Fred and Eliza (Bennett) Goetz.
Wilton (Bill) is survived by his wife of 69 years, Dolores Jule (Allen); three
daughters, Carol (Rodney) Ray, Chris (Jaime Galindo) McKinnon and Cathy Goetz-Perry; son, Fred (Debbie) Goetz; and four grandsons, Benjamin Godoshian, Travis (Julia) Ray, Skye McKinnon and Jarett Perry.
Upon graduation from Williamston High School, Bill worked as a stenographer/clerk at Oldsmobile. While attending Lansing Business College in 1943, Bill joined the US Army. Upon completion of MAC Officers’ Candidate School, he was awarded the rank of 1st Lieutenant, and was assigned duties as Assistant Battalion Surgeon during the war and as a Medical Supply Officer after the war. He served in the 80th Infantry, 317th Regiment, from 1943 to 1946, mainly in the Central European theater, including, fighting in the “Battle of the Bulge”. He was awarded various medals, including, the Bronze Star. After returning home, Bill trained under local accountant C.B. White and, subsequently, became a Certified Public Accountant in 1957. He operated his accounting firm, Wilton H. Goetz, C.P.A., in downtown Williamston through 1979. His hobbies included playing golf, bridge, and poker. He and Dolores spent over 20 years wintering in Arizona. Bill’s main love in life was his family. He was married for over 69 years to his sweetheart, Dolores, and fathered four children, of whom, he was exceedingly proud.
Bill will be cremated. A memorial gathering will be held at 2:00 p.m. on January 2, 2016. The family will receive friends at the Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 1730 E. Grand River Ave., East Lansing, MI one hour prior to the service.
