He was born March 17, 1929 in Pekin, IL the son of Arthur and Rosalie Combs Ahten Sr. He married Christina DeArcos in July of 1957. She preceded him in death on March 27, 2016. Arthur is survived by six daughters, Mary (Dale) Schroeder of Litchfield Park, AZ, Sandy Steinseifer of Peoria, Linda Menees of Bartonville, Cheryl Osegera of E. Peoria, Tina Ahten of Peoria, AZ, Diana Dailey of Peoria; three sons, Koko (Sharon) Chapai of Peoria, Daniel (Kim) Chapai of E. Peoria, and Michael Ahten of Peoria; one brother, Frederick (Barb) Ahten of Creve Coeur; one sister, Peggy Ahten of E. Peoria; 31 grandchildren, 60 great-grandchildren, and 21 great-great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by six brothers, one grandson, two great-great- grandchildren, and one daughter-in-law, Lesley. Arthur was a Millwright at Caterpillar Inc. until his retirement in 1993. He was an Army Veteran of the Korean War. Arthur was a member of the American Legion, and past member of Oak Grove Bible Church. Arthur was a loyal Chicago Cubs fan. He enjoyed working on cars.
Funeral Services will be at 10 am Wednesday, October 19, 2016 at Remmert Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 5-7 pm Tuesday, October 18, 2016 also at the Funeral Home. Pastor Jerald Rupp will officiate. Burial with military honors will be at Oak Grove Bible Church Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice.
