

At the age of 22 , he enthusiastically joined the U.S. Air Force where he proudly served in Alaska and San Antonio, Texas. While stationed in San Antonio at Lackland Air Force Base, he met the love of his life, Marcelina Delgado Ramirez at McCourys Drug Store. After competing with Audie Murphy for her affection, he won her hand in marriage. They married on May 17, 1955. After proudly serving his country, Dave and his wife purchased their new home in Norwood, Illinois where they lived their entire lives and raised their four children.
Once in civilian life, Davey went to work for Watkins where he worked as a door-to-door salesman. He then worked for a cannery in Princeville, Illinois. Later, he started his career at Pabst Brewery Grits Mill where he loaded hops on the trains along with other duties. After 25 years, he retired when Pabst closed in the 1980's.
Davey enjoyed fishing at French Creek with his family; playing pool with his sons; and family vacations to San Antonio, Texas where he loved strolling the River Walk and eating at Mi Tierra restaurant. He also loved taking his family to zoos in many states and attending the Heart of Illinois Fair.
He was preceded in death by his parents, all of his siblings and his wife who died October 18, 2007.
Surviving are his children: Cheri Lee McKenny, Davey Lee (Kathy) McKenny, Jr., John Dale (Debbie) McKenny and William Cliff McKenny. He also leaves behind three grandchildren {David Lee (Chelsie Smith) McKenny III, Franchesca Rose (Cliff) McMahon and Kayla Marie McKenny}; two great grand children (Illyana Smith and Charlotte Rose McMahon). Davey would have been a great grandfather again in October.
In honoring his wishes, there will be no services.
