Donald Franklin "Don" Solomon Sr.

Donald Franklin “Don” Solomon, Sr, age 79, of Metamora, passed away Monday May 30, 2016 at 12:53 p.m. at Unity Point Proctor in Peoria. He was born May 17, 1937 in Keenes, IL to Charlie and Blanch Solomon. He married Peggy “Laverne” Gregory on July 3, 1959 in Peoria. Survivors include his wife of 57 years, three sons: Donald “Frank” Solomon, Jr of Germantown Hills, Randy (Scheree) Solomon of East Peoria, Michael (Vickie Astle) Solomon of Germantown Hills, seventeen grandchildren, and twenty-four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Jonathon “Scott” Solomon, one brother, and three sisters. Don worked for Fleming Potter in Peoria for 44 years retiring in 2001. He was a member of Morgan Street Baptist Church and later Crossroads Baptist Church. Don was a lifelong St. Louis Cardinals fan. Funeral services will be on Thursday June 2, 2016 at 11 a.m. at the Remmert Funeral Home in East Peoria. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services.
